SOUND AFFECTS REVIEW OF I SING THE BODY ELECTRO As one of the legendary figures of early electronic dance music in the mid 80s, it's perhaps a bit surprising that the massively influential Kurtis Mantronik has been silent for so long, especially as the music he helped create has mutated into a myriad of popular forms. In an attempt to fuse the heady 80s hip hop beat culture with the diversity of today's dance scene, I Sing the Body Electric sports an astounding variety of beats, from old skool hip hop and early house to the currently hip sounds of big beat and drum 'n' bass. The lone misstep is the foul-mouthed rapping of Traylude, which seems out of place on this collection. But for folks who dig electronica or dance music, this disc will be essential.
