MANTRONIK - DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER

Early breaks pioneer Kurtis Mantronik says he's released one of his dreams by remixing Shirl. " I've taken part in the whole James Bond Experience " he says, though he doensn't say whether this includes wearing a white dinner jacket or keeping guns in his shoe.

How did you become involved in the remix project? We were approached by EMI to remix for the new album, and I love Shirley Bassey and the whole James Bond thing.

Why did you re-work 'Diamonds Are Forever'? I love this song ans it reminds me of my childhood. It was an honour for me to have acess to such an incredible recording.

Are there any other big-time cabaret stars you 'd like to remix? George Michael

Have you always been a Shirley fan? Yes, from a young age. I was first introduced to her by way of the James Bond soundtracks.
