New Releases: wow 2005 since i wrote something here, guess i've been busy *lol*. as most of you know the so called forthcoming Mantronix album is way over due. well isn't that the way it's always been with kurtis :) it's almost 3 years since i first heard from his label that he was working on a new Mantronix album. last time i heard from them (a month ago), they didn't know when or if it would be released. they thought so though..hm isn't that special ;)
the latest release is I Can't Wait featuring Kellie Marie Smith, you've probably heard that one already since it's been up on my site for awhile. it's not officially released yet though. it will be released on heartbreaker records. click for more info!
There's a new single from Kurtis called The Beginning from Eye Industries *Electronic music pioneer Kurtis Mantronik returns to the fold with "The Beginning" - a spoken vocal declares "this is the beginning" before unleashing an almighty hook. looking forward to hearing that one..sounds exciting :)

77 STRINGS VIDEO - check out the video for his new track under the alias Chamonix & read a small interview about this track being the anthem for Fatboy Slim's Big Beach Boutique II - CLICK HERE

Friday October 11, 2002

77 STRINGS - Chamonix track 77 Strings will be released on Southern Fried Records October 28. This is Norman Cook's own label and the release will feature a mix of 77 strings by Kurtis. a remix of his own track, ain't that cool :-) most of you know Norman Cook as Fatboy Slim and he has been playing 77 strings a few times on his gigs.  Kurtis is also remixing a track called move your feet by the Danish group Junior Senior. this release is not out yet....keep you posted!!

The CD will be out September 30th. click here for the track list and to read a small comment from New Order!!
The gig in Paris September 12th was great, at least that's what i've been told :-) he also did a small interview for the Generation radio station in Paris.

Tuesday August 13, 2002

MC Tee - I've heard from a very reliable source that MC Tee departure was not because he wanted to join the army. He was apparently fed up with the whole music business and wanted to get out of it. He moved to Atlanta and settled there, but what he does now for a living nobody knows. if anyone could track him down in atlanta and find out, let me know :-) it's a shame that such a talented rapper should dissapear like that...don't you think? :-)

Friday August 9, 2002

GIGS & REMIXES - On July 19th Kurtis headlined a gig at the Fabric Club in London . for those who were so lucky to be there, could enjoy a 2 hour electro set alongside Jacques Lu Cont. He played some old tracks and some brand new ones which got great response from the audience. Jacques Lu Cont is probably better know to you as Les Rhytmes Digitales..or as his real name is Stuart Price :-) Kurtis will also play a gig at the Rex Club in Paris on September 12.
Kurtis 77 Strings released under his alias Chamonix was played by Fatboy Slim last month during the Brighton Beach Party. over 250 000 people attended. nice crowd to get some exposure for your record..hehe

Appleton / Fantasy - Harry's Afro Hut remix (Polydor Records)
Replicant / Bluelight - Kurtis Mantronik remix (Eye Industries)

Thursday July 12, 2002

O BOY - This is actually old news to me but i kinda forgot to post it here before i went on holiday, and i've also moved to a new house so things have been very hectic around here lately. will take a few weeks before i get connected to the internet where i live so now i'm on borrowed connection :-) well off to the news then...as i wrote in the "sampling" section a few weeks back, a group called Liberty X has made a cover of Mantronix Got To Have Your Love. those in the UK probably know this group, for all others this is one of many fabricated boy/girl bands. in other words...Crap!!! so here's the "amazing" news, Kurtis has heard this cover song and said that he liked what they did with it..and he has agreed to do a remix of it too...well i'm stunned, speechless, and most of all dissapointed...but i hope Kurtis is just through a weird midlife crisis or just have caught fever or something....or maybe malaria..hehehe...hmmm whatever happen to credibility!!! on the other hand got to have your love is not a great Mantronix track and most peopple like me who really like Mantronix don't associate them with that sound at all. Mantronix is bassline, fresh is the word, needle to the groove, etc....so swallow these news and lets pretend it never happen ok :-) ..no more news on the magazine article about Kurtis in Hip Hop Connection but i think it might be out in the July/ issue. The single No More under his alias Harry's Afro Hut will be released very soon on a label i have forgot the name of..shame on me :-) probably later this month....do to legal reasons i can't post any audio excerpts yet. but it will be up as soon as it's been released!!!

Thursday May 16, 2002

NEW REMIX - Kurtis latest remix will be of Linda Clifford's Back To My Roots under his alias Harry's Afro Hut. Going Back To My Roots is a classic funk track originally released by Lamon Dozier from the famous motown production team Holland-Dozier-Holland. This album can be pre-ordered at www.htfr.com

All UK readers be on a look out for the magazine Hip Hop Connection which will have a feature on Kurtis with brand new pictures aswell..not sure which issue but it will be out very soon :-)

MORE RELEASES - Kurtis are really on the producing side again. He will soon release a compilation called That's My Beat on Souljazz Records. He is in Paris, France today doing radio & magazine interviews to promote the album. I'm not sure which radio statioins but if you live in France and are into house / club music you probably know what to listen to :-) . more details will come later!!

On saturday Kurtis did a block party DJ set in London for Souljazz Records, playing disco & hip hop....a soldout show with 900 people attending...wish i was there :-) .if you were there and would like to write a review of the gig to be feature on this site, send me a mail!!!

Sunday April 28, 2002

NEW RELEASE - I'm still trying to get down to earth after Thursday's Grandmaster Flash gig :-) ..the new kurtis alias Chamonix will be in effect this week. the track 77 strings will be out in specialists dance stores in the UK. you can get a copy of it on www.gemm.com just do a search and you'll find it :-)

Sunday, April 21, 2002

ANOTHER ALIAS - Kurtis got a track out soon under the alias Chamonix called 77 Strings. also the first track under the alias Harry's Afro Hut called No More can be heard in the audio section of my site!! release dates and where to buy it will be posted soon!!

Monday April 8, 2002

KURTIS IN A MOVIE - well not Kurtis in person though..but one of his tracks from I Sing The Body Electro "Mad" features in the film "Kissing Jessica Stein". A movie about a girl that searches for the perfect men but finds the perfect woman. The crucial scene where these 2 girls finally are going to have sex you can hear "MAD" in the background...so it's very strange that this track didn't make it to the soundtrack...but it's nice to know that Kurtis music is in the movies too :-)

Saturday April 6, 2002

NEW SINGLE/ALBUM - A new single under the alias Grand Kids will be out soon on Defected Records, the track is called Runner. Kurtis New alias Harry's Afro Hut is in effect for 2002...he is working on a album which will be released under the "Harry" alias....stay tuned for release dates!!! the new Mantronix album Fucking Dynamite is still a mystery and it seems to have been put on ice for awhile...i keep wondering if we will ever see it released!!! :-(

Sunday March 10, 2002

ALIAS - Been awhile since i wrote something here, last time i wrote the new Mantronix album was about to be released. Still no news about "Fucking Dynamite". I guess his managment is looking for a new label to put it out on...don't see the problem there...they must be lining up to sign him. so we just have to wait (as we always do for new things from Kurtis). On the other hand he is still working on remixes as he always does. You have probably noticed in the audio section that Kurtis has gotten himself a cute alias "Harry's Afro Hut". He will release more stuff under that alias this year. He also will release under another alias "The Grand Kids"...and if that wasn't enough he got even 2 more alias he will use...Don't know the name yet...stay tuned. and at last Kurtis old buddy T.La Rock is in the studio again...so stay tuned for new stuff from him. Check in on my T La Rock page later.

Friday August 31, 2001
OMW - You have proably noticed that Kurtis Mantronik's label Oxygene Music Works web site has been down for over a year or so...The reason for this could be that they are bankrupt...not OMW but K-Tel Records who owns OMW. This was pointed out to me just a week ago and i'm still trying to get in contact with anyone in OMW or PIAS to get more details on this matter. They're all a bunch of ghosts to me...they don't seem to be interested in informing the public on what's going on with Mantronix new album. What i know it's that the album is more or less finished. The problem now is OMW going bankrupt, this could lead to a very long delay...it's already been delayed for a long time now and it's getting frustrated for all of us. Some other companies will probably buy  OMW or the rights to Mantronix album so it will eventually be released...don't worry :-) . as the situation is now kurtis can probably break his contract with OMW & change record company ...and who wouldn't want to sign the king of the beats?? I hope i get some answers soon, i'll keep you all posted as soon as something new comes up!!
Monday, June 4, 2001

THE USUAL - Well what to write, still waiting for news about Mantronix new album and single. Nothing so far. The record company and managment are silent as the mute control on your TV. The scheduled summer release don't seem to happen. I think we must wait untill late fall. or even later. Kurtis is known for his delay, we all remember how long we waited for i sing the body electro :-) i think Kurtis is one who don't like to rush things. puts quality in his work without thinking about time...that's a good thing though, but i hope we get some new stuff soon. the wait is wearing me off..hehe.. but i got something for you today : Fred Durst of the "metal Rap" group Limp Bizkit mentions that he like Mantronix, Needle to the Groove is his favourite. You can check out the interview here: http://www.farmclub.com/news/me/story/20009

Also my mate Barjeilik is trying to convince sound on sound magazine to get an interview with Kurtis. Sound on sound is a hi-tech music recording magazine in the UK. You can go to the forum for mac audio and check out the thread there started by Barjeilik. feel free to post a message there begging for a Mantronik interview!! I'll keep you posted if SOS get lucky and land an interview with the MAN :-) http://www.sound-on-sound.com

MC TEE - Just to set the record straight. NOBODY knows anything about what happen to MC TEE, where he is now and what he is doing. i would love to know and so would all you guys and girls out there who love Mantronix. but untill someone are so clever to ask Kurtis about this, we will never know. he probably doesn't know where he is either...he's like dissapeared from the face of the earth or something...nobody knows anything :-) but if you do happen to have some information about him let me know. no rumours, just the facts!!! here's what i do know: MC Tee left Mantronix in 1988. he quit to join the army (sounds strange huh?). According to Bryce Luvah there might have been some problems between Mantronik and MC Tee but no one knows for sure. i would love to ask Kurtis that question, or get some one to ask it for me. That's all about the mystery of MC Tee. The poet who never wanted to be a rapper but ended up in Mantronix...luckily :-)

NEW RE-ISSUES - A 12" featuring Got to Have Your Love and King of the Beats has been re-released. A 12" of Bassline & Ladies will also be re-released April 30. You can get them here !

Thursday, April 5, 2001

BRAND NEW TRACKS - Finally somethiing to be jumping up and down for!!! on www.apple.com website there's a feature on Kurtis (coz he uses a mac creating his music). they have 2 brand new tracks from the forthcoming album F*cking Dynamite. the 2 tracks are "Who you rollin' With?" & "Let'em Know". Let'em know features female rapper Carefree and is a cool track, Carefree has more to offer than Traylude's effort on i sing the body electro. but when i heard who you rolin' with? i just said holy fuck!! hehe...i just dig that track...no rapping but a vocoder voice in the old electro style way...and u can hear that Kraftwerk influence still hangs on in the background!! :-) i must say this sounds very promising for the album that won't be released until the summer...if we're lucky :-) here's a direct link to the tracks (you'll need quicktime installed on your computer!!) http://www.apple.com/creative/stories/mantronik/songs.html

here's a link to a video interview with Kurtis (also need quicktime installed for this one) http://www.apple.com/creative/stories/mantronik/interview2.html

GAME MUSIC - Kurtis has done music for the game Maken X for Dreamcast, he has done the theme music and as far as i know there exist 2 versions of it. Don't have a full version of the track yet but here's a little taster ( DOWNLOAD ). This is the second time he does music for a game. He also did the music for Dreamcast's Trickstyle. Still no news on the new Mantronix single...be patient my friends :-)
