MUSIC

Something i definitely couldn't live without and something that has brought me much joy and memorable moments. In all forms and shapes music is something that can make you laugh, make you happy, make you sad and make you think and ofcourse...make you move your butt :-). I was first introduced to music when i was a kid, my father's favourite group was Rolling Stones. I also listen to Pink Floyd, Supertramp, David Bowie, Jethro Tull, Neil Young, Kate Bush & bunch of other great musicians. At that time all of my friends listen to the same music, that changed around 1983. In 1983 i was introduced to Hip Hop and Break Dancing for the first time (picture). Grandmaster Flash "The Message" changed my life, this was something new and fresh that really captivated me, the incredible sound and beats made me find my own music identity. Me and a few friends started Break Dancing (picture) and all the money i had, i used on hip hop records. We even did some grafitti on a school wall and got busted (shit). Around the same time i was getting into this electronic phenomenon and i discovered Kraftwerk. I first heard Tour De France in 1983 and was totally blown away by it. I later picked up their earlier work (autobahn, radioactivity, trans europe express & man machine). Now i had finally found my platform in the music world. This was it, the electronic revolution that had started in the early 80's became my identity which would bring me into the future with a blast. I was a huge fan of Grandmaster Flash and i thought nothing could top that...then along came Mantronix!! His beats and loops where just beyond this world, and even today their 2 first albums sounds as fresh and probably better than anything released these days.

Even though most of the music i listen to in the 80's was electronic, i got my share of rock and pop too. Another artists which paved another path in my music world was Tori Amos. I actually didn't discover her before 1995, that was when i hit the internet for the first time and getting information on new artists was easier on the net. I haven't seen such a artist that can play with so much passion since Kate Bush. Even though they have been compared to each other, i like them as the great individual artists they are who express their music the way they see it, and feel it. I'm glad we have artists like Tori who creates her own music and not a product put together by a record company with only one goal...make easy accesible music with beautiful people in it to make lot's of money. People like Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and whatever they're called are killing the music as an art form. The music scene are being choked by fabricated products that are badly made and they trick people into believing the product is great when it's not. It's a load of crap!!! How people can buy that shit is a mystery to me, i would rather stand in a big crowd and piss on myself than buy that shit!! It's a good thing that a great band like Radiohead can make such a masterpiece as OK Computer and still get commercial success as well...and R.E.M. does the same thing, captivates the real music listeners and even the "Music Zombies"!!! (music zombies = a person who don't look at music as an art form and think playback and lip syncing is great)
